1. Who we are

Coo is operated by Coo Family LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). Coo is an AI-powered parenting application designed to help parents track baby care, receive AI-powered guidance, and share data within their household.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Baby information: Baby name, birth date or due date, sex (optional), and developmental data.
  • Health and tracking data: Feeding logs, sleep logs, diaper changes, growth measurements, milestones, mood entries, and other baby care data you choose to record.
  • Chat content: Messages you send to Coo's AI assistant, including any photos you share for product scanning.
  • Household data: Information shared between household members through the app's shared features.
  • Decisions and notes: Birth plan decisions, family notes, hospital bag items, and visit prep notes.

Information collected automatically

  • Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version.
  • Usage analytics: App feature usage, screen views, and interaction patterns (collected via PostHog).
  • Crash and performance data: Error reports and performance metrics (collected via Sentry).
  • Push notification tokens: Device tokens for delivering notifications.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect precise location data.
  • We do not collect contacts, call logs, or browsing history.
  • We do not collect Device ID or Advertising ID.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use your information

  • Product personalization: To provide AI-powered insights, daily summaries, pattern detection, and personalized guidance based on your baby's data.
  • Household sharing: To sync baby care data between household members so both parents see shared logs and insights.
  • AI features: To power chat responses, conversational logging, milestone celebrations, and other AI-generated content. Your data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing.
  • Service improvement: To understand how features are used and improve the app experience.
  • Communications: To send transactional emails (password reset) and push notifications you've opted into.

4. AI disclosure

Coo uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to provide chat responses, generate daily summaries, detect patterns, and create personalized guidance. When you interact with AI features:

  • Your baby's relevant data is sent to Anthropic's API to generate personalized responses.
  • Anthropic does not use your data to train their models (per their commercial API terms).
  • AI-generated content is informational and does not constitute medical advice. Always consult your pediatrician for medical concerns.
  • Chat conversations are user-private. Your partner cannot see your individual chat history.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal data. We do not display ads. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

  • Within your household: Baby care data (logs, milestones, growth) is shared with other members of your household. Chat conversations remain private.
  • Service providers: Anthropic (AI processing), Sentry (error monitoring), PostHog (analytics), Resend (transactional email), Apple (payments via App Store), RevenueCat (subscription management).
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, legal process, or to protect the safety of our users.

6. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Coo collects information about children (baby care data entered by parents) but does not collect information from children. Coo is designed for use by parents and caregivers who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@coofamily.com.

7. Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and secure server infrastructure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed. Shared household data (baby logs, milestones) may remain accessible to other household members. Database backups are retained for 14 days on a rolling basis.

9. Your rights

You may:

  • Access and export your data (CSV or PDF export available to Premium subscribers).
  • Update or correct your personal information through your profile settings.
  • Delete your account and associated data by contacting us.
  • Opt out of push notifications through your device settings.

10. Subscription payments

Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not directly collect or store payment information. Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat. See Apple's privacy policy for details on payment processing.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Coo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
